About This Role
Frontend / Fullstack Senior Software Engineer Compensation: $180K–$220K base + equity Location: Fully Remote (U.S. or Canada) Work Policy: Remote-first (semi-annual company retreats) Stage: Series B visual AI platform | $45M funding | Founded 2018
Who Are We? We’re building the visual AI data platform that powers computer vision systems in the real world. Our open-source tool, FiftyOne, has over 4 million installs and is used by teams at companies like Walmart, GM, and Medtronic to explore, curate, and refine massive visual datasets.
We help AI teams understand model performance across billions of samples—images, video, 3D, and point clouds—so their systems actually work in production.
We’re engineer-led (roughly 75% of the company), remote-first, and focused on solving genuinely hard frontend problems—not CRUD dashboards.
What’s in It for You? You’ll work on complex, high-performance frontend systems that visualize and manipulate massive unstructured datasets.
You’ll collaborate on open source software used by hundreds of thousands of developers worldwide.
You’ll operate at a stage where product-market fit is real, growth is strong, and engineering quality is prioritized over shipping hacks.
You’ll join a culture that values thoughtful design, respectful debate, and servant leadership—no micromanagement, no ego-driven decision making.
You’ll receive competitive compensation, meaningful equity, and the flexibility of a fully remote team with in-person retreats twice per year.
What Will You Do? Architect, develop, and scale complex React/TypeScript functionality across both open-source and enterprise products.
Build highly interactive, visualization-heavy interfaces using technologies such as React, TypeScript, D3, and three.js.
Design performant systems capable of handling extremely large datasets and real-time state updates.
Write production-grade code that is maintainable, extensible, well-tested, and optimized for performance.
Participate in deep technical discussions around React state management, hooks, closures, subscriptions, and rendering performance.
Contribute to a thriving open-source community and collaborate across a remote-first engineering organization.
Support teammates through thoughtful code reviews, pairing, and collaborative problem-solving.
What Will You Need? 5+ years (ideally 7+) of professional experience building complex, React-heavy applications.
Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and React, including deep understanding of hooks, state management patterns, closures, and subscription-based architectures.
Experience building sophisticated frontend systems beyond standard CRUD patterns.
Strong passion for UI, data visualization, and interactive systems.
Ability to thrive in a remote-first environment with strong written and verbal communication.
BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience with demonstrated complexity of work.
Strongly Preferred Experience with 3D visualization (three.js or similar). Proficiency with Python. Experience at top-tier technology companies.
We are raising the bar significantly for this role. Candidates should demonstrate top-tier React expertise and a track record of building genuinely complex frontend systems—not maintenance-heavy or form-based applications.
If you enjoy solving difficult UI problems at scale and want to help power the next generation of computer vision systems, this role offers both technical depth and meaningful impact.
